Breaking with tradition, Taiwanese band, F.I.R. (acronym for Fairyland in Reality) picks Singapore as the first stop for their upcoming concert in 2013 and promises a wild night.
By Elaine Xu
The trio, consisting of Faye (飛); keyboardist Ian Chen (陳建寧); and guitarist Real Huang (阿沁), have been part of the band since its formation a decade ago, albeit changing the name to the band to Fairyland in Reality only in 2004. The band had previously been known as Kiss in Reality prior to adopting its current name.
The band members took a one-and-a-half year break from doing music together and went on to pursue individual projects. Light Up the Way will be the first concert where the three members reunite on the stage.

Lead vocalist, Faye, undertook her own mini-tour titled "A Little Part of the Sky" (小天空巡回演出), giving her fans and music lovers an intimate glimpse of herself through the music she performs. She was later invited to perform at The Simple Life, an annual music festival in Taiwan that aims to nurture and promote music creators.
Huang started his own music school and besides taking on teaching duties, he also contributed to Aaron Yan and Angela Chang's albums and produced a few artistes' albums. Having written many songs in his decade-long career, Huang performed his original compositions in a small-scale concert in December this year, inviting Rachael Liang as his special guest.
Keyboardist and music producer, Chen crossed over to television production and recently completed music producing work for a television drama that is touted to be the "first idol musical drama". Just Singing and Dancing (「K歌情人梦」) is executive-produced by well-known Taiwan personality, Wang Wei Zhong, and is slated for broadcast in early 2013.
Despite spending time away from each other and pursuing individual interests, Chen believes that it contributes to the bigger picture.
He alludes to possibly adding some elements from Faye's individual mini-tour into part of the concert and cites Huang's producing work as vital because this will be the first time he takes on the role of a music director for the concert.
"After participating in the musical drama, I starting asking myself if we are able to weave a story into our concert and not just plan for good sound and lighting."
Chen emphasizes that the use of 'light' in the concert name is not coincidental.
"We hope to be like the sun; the sun is a source of life and the concert is like a rebirth [for us]."
Tickets to F.I.R.'s concert in Singapore, Light Up the Way, are available from SISTIC website and retail between S$88 to S$158, excluding SISTIC fee.
